Troutman Sanders assists ACLU in Mark Lyttle case
Troutman Sanders appeared in an October 13 Targeted News Service article and an October 14 States Without Nations blog about the American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of Georgia and the ACLU of North Carolina filing lawsuits in federal courts in Georgia and North Carolina on behalf of Mark Lyttle, a U.S. citizen of Puerto Rican descent with mental disabilities who was wrongfully deported to Mexico and forced to endure over four months of living on the streets and in the shelters and prisons of Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
Troutman Sanders assisted the ACLU in filing the lawsuits, seeking damages and injunctive relief for violations of Lyttle’s constitutional rights to due process and equal protection. Atlanta partner Michael Johnson and Atlanta associates Erin Graham, Alex Reyes, Michael Wall and Brian Watt worked on this matter.
