Troutman Sanders Assists PAE with Conversion of Georgia World Congress Center into 200-Bed Temporary Hospital
ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders attorneys are advising PAE, a global logistics company, on the conversion of the Georgia World Congress Center into a temporary hospital to help offset the shortage of hospital beds caused by the coronavirus pandemic. When converted, the Atlanta convention center will hold more than 200 beds to treat coronavirus patients experiencing mild to moderate symptoms.
Troutman Sanders partners William Droze, Brandon Woods and Erin Whaley advised PAE on related contract, health care, government contracting, and procurement issues. The plan to add more hospital beds was announced Sunday by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who announced similar facilities in Macon and Savannah.
“Across Georgia, we have partnered with existing health care infrastructure to greatly expand our surge capacity, and now we have a dedicated team building out a temporary facility at the Georgia World Congress Center for potential COVID-19 patient surge,” Gov. Kemp said in a press release. “We are working around the clock to prepare for future needs and ensure the health and well-being of our state. I am truly honored to have Georgia’s best, brightest, and most dedicated public servants working on this critically important project.”
