Troutman Sanders' Dustin Weeks Elected to Board of Directors for Truancy Intervention Project
ATLANTA – Dustin Weeks, a partner in Troutman Sanders’ Intellectual Property practice, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Truancy Intervention Project (TIP). The Atlanta-based nonprofit works to increase student attendance and success by pairing trained volunteers with children and their families. Volunteer attorneys assist in truancy cases, representing children in the courts.
“I look forward to serving on TIP’s Board of Directors to advance its important mission of decreasing chronic absenteeism,” Weeks said. “At Troutman Sanders, we believe in giving back to the community in which we live and work, and our work with TIP is incredibly rewarding and meaningful.”
Weeks’ professional practice focuses on intellectual property law, including patent prosecution, patent litigation, including Hatch-Waxman litigation, and client counseling. He represents clients ranging from start-ups and solo inventors, to Fortune 500 companies, and works closely with his clients to learn their business objectives so that he can tailor strategies to procure, protect, and enforce their intellectual property.
Each year, Troutman Sanders’ attorneys dedicate thousands of pro bono hours in support of nonprofits, military veterans, children, the wrongfully accused, and so many more. Earlier this year, TIP recognized William Baucom for his efforts to help keep children in school and close the achievement gap. Last year, Troutman Sanders received the nonprofit’s Champion for Children Award in recognition of its volunteer efforts.
About the Truancy Intervention Project
Founded in 1991, the Truancy Intervention Project (TIP) strives to decrease chronic absenteeism by pairing trained volunteers with children and their families to provide them with the advocacy, resources and services necessary to
ensure good attendance and success in school. Originating in Fulton County, TIP provides resources and intervention services to children who are chronically absent from school and, as a result, either become involved with the local
juvenile court or are referred for early intervention at the school level. See
