ATLANTA, Ga. – September 10, 2015 – Troutman Sanders LLP is pleased to announce that Troutman Sanders eMerge Managing Director Alison Grounds received the first Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award from the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Committee. The award was presented in Las Vegas at the International Legal Technology Association conference on September 2. Grounds is a litigation partner at Troutman Sanders LLP.
The Monica Bay STEM Leadership award recognizes individuals whose contributions have led to innovation and progress in the legal technology industry. The award was named for lawyer Monica Bay, the former editor-in-chief of ALM’s Law Technology News and now a fellow at CodeX: The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics and a freelance journalist for Bloomberg BNA's Big Law Business. This annual award will be given to leaders who demonstrate a commitment to the mentorship and advancement of women in the legal technology field and who stand out as team players and thought innovators.
“We are pleased to announce the first winner of the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award,” Gail Gottehrer, Chair of the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Committee stated. “The award was created to recognize the significant contributions Monica Bay has made to the legal, technology and literary communities in her career to date. Like Monica, Alison is a leader and a role model for women in STEM.”
In 2012, Troutman Sanders LLP created eMerge, a fully-owned subsidiary, to address the legal technology needs of clients. eMerge combines strategic legal thinking with advanced technology to manage electronically stored information in litigation, corporate transactions, and government investigations.
eMerge was honored as the Best National eDiscovery Company of 2014 by the readers of the Daily Report and was the first place winner of the Platform Innovation Award - Best Law Firm Solution at the 2014 Relativity Fest Innovation Awards. In 2013, Grounds earned the Technology Advocate of the Year Award from the International Association of Legal Technology for her leadership in founding eMerge.
The Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award Committee is comprised of lawyers, technologists, service providers and business people who came together to create an award to recognize Bay’s contributions to the worlds of technology and publishing, as well as her commitment to the advancement of women in legal technology.
