Troutman Sanders Expands Litigation Practice in Atlanta
ATLANTA – February 4, 2014 – Troutman Sanders LLP announced today that James Washburn has joined the firm as a partner in its Business Litigation practice in Atlanta. Washburn comes to Troutman Sanders from McKenna Long & Aldridge.
Washburn has significant experience handling a wide variety of commercial litigation matters for clients, including insurance providers, financial institutions, and closely-held businesses. He has also represented clients in regulatory cases before state and federal entities. In addition, he has advised political candidates and political action committees on matters involving both state and federal campaign finance laws.
“We have worked opposite James on several matters and we know the skill, passion and dedication he brings to his cases,” said Bill Withrow, Chair of the firm’s Business Litigation Department. “He is familiar with the issues and challenges facing our clients and we believe he will be a great addition to our team.”

Washburn is a member of both the American Bar Association’s and the Atlanta Bar Association’s Litigation Sections. He has also served pro bono as the principal counsel for the Points of Light Foundation, a national organization promoting volunteerism through affiliated organizations throughout the United States and Asia.
Washburn graduated from Yale University and received his J.D. from Duke University. He is also a graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2010.
