Virginia Beach partner, Bayview Holdings and “The Donald”
Virginia Beach partner Jonathan Hauser was mentioned in two Daily Deal/The Deal articles in January about residential real estate developer Bayview Holdings LLC, and was mentioned in a February AmLaw Daily article about Donald Trump mulling over the idea of buying property in Virginia.
The January 21 and January 26 Daily Deal/The Deal articles covered the ongoing bankruptcy woes of pharmaceutical company Commonwealth Biotechnologies Inc. (CBI). Specifically, the January 26 article stated that according to Hauser, CBI filed for bankruptcy because LH Financial had scheduled a foreclosure on its property. Hauser is counsel to Branch Banking & Trust Co. (BB&T), which holds a first-lien on the deed of trust for the debtor’s property. LH Financial holds a second-lien on the property behind BB&T.
The February 16 AmLaw Daily article discussed Donald Trump’s interest in buying the 23,000 square-foot neo-Georgian mansion, 900-acre vineyard and winery, and an additional 200-acre chunk of land in Charlottesville, Va., that was the estate of late media magnate John Kluge.
Hauser was mentioned in the article for his representation of Bank of America, who is in foreclosure litigation against the mansion’s current owners, Kluge’s ex-wife, Patricia, and her third husband, former IBM executive William Moses.
