Alana partners with clients to solve complex legal issues at the intersection of construction, real estate, and technology — balancing the law with pragmatic, business-focused solutions.
Alana represents real estate owners and developers throughout the development, design, construction, and operation of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects nationwide. An experienced transactional attorney, she has negotiated and drafted all construction-related agreements necessary to design, construct, and operate projects valued in excess of $10 billion. She also has an extensive litigation background that helps her advise clients on risk mitigation, and resolve disputes, both inside and outside of the courtroom. Her litigation background informs her transactional practice as she proactively identifies and mitigates risks while ensuring the deal gets done.
Alana returns to the firm from in-house as the director of legal for Canopy Buildings at Sidewalk Labs (Alphabet's urban innovation platform, which is now integrated into Google), where she was responsible for managing the legal affairs of this startup company. Canopy is a digital design and manufacturing company that uses mass timber technologies to deliver sustainable buildings at scale. There, she provided strategic counseling on transactions, corporate governance, and business operations, as well as developed templates and policies and procedures for commercial contracting.
Additionally, Alana serves on the board of directors for Commercial Real Estate Women (New York Chapter) as its secretary, and for the JCC Stamford.
