Troutman Pepper Supports Election Protection Efforts
NEW YORK – Dozens of Troutman Pepper attorneys and professional staff members are volunteering their time with Election Protection, which works year-round to ensure all voters have an equal opportunity to vote. Led by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Election Protection is the nation’s largest non-partisan voter protection coalition.
In Philadelphia, the firm has partnered with Blank Rome to manage an election protection hotline for the state. Troutman Pepper attorneys have created a volunteer manual and are staffing the voter assistance hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) on November 2 and November 3 to answer voters’ questions, help them navigate the voting process and respond to reports of problems.
“Every eligible voter deserves to have his or her vote counted. As legal professionals, it is our duty to help ensure this fundamental right is protected, and I am proud to be able to do my small part in voter protection,” said Leah Katz, a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Philadelphia office.
Professional staff within the firm’s IT and Innovation teams have already volunteered their time and are helping to address any technical concerns that may arise during voter assistance hotline calls.
“It’s rewarding work,” said Max Gladstone, Troutman Pepper’s innovation solutions manager. “We essentially function as a help desk to any technology or platform-related questions the hotline receives. Our training and backgrounds make us well-suited to the tasks, and we are pleased to be able to advance Election Protection’s important work.”
Troutman Pepper’s William Gaus, Amy Ginensky, Max Gladstone, Abigail Hazlett, Leah Katz, Sara Richman, Joshua Scott, Robin Sumner and Stephany Tang are among those leading the volunteer effort with Election Protection. The firm has participation across more than a dozen offices.
Earlier this year, Troutman Pepper joined over 50 of its clients as a member of Time to Vote, a non-partisan group comprising a diverse coalition of companies that have come together to address barriers to voting and increase voter participation. The firm is committed to protecting the rights of voters and regularly partners with organizations dedicated to that goal. Learn more about the firm’s pro bono work at troutman.com/pro-bono.
