Troutman Pepper partner Dan Anziska told Law360 that U.S. and other automakers have bet big on EVs, so while there’s some understandable unease surrounding the stricter domestic sourcing requirements, they’re not enough to disincentivize consumers.
“Some of that is a bit of saber-rattling. Understandably, the auto manufacturers want flexibility, and they’re running businesses which are brutally competitive and difficult, and have been made much harder due to supply chain and other issues the past couple of years,” he said. “So, [I’m] completely sensitive to automotive concerns and affordability is critical and there’s already an income and price cap that is built in.”
