Adrian Boddie and Brett Hubler Named Among Region's Top Business and Civic Leaders
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Troutman Pepper Partners Adrian Boddie and Brett Hubler have been named among the Charlotte Business Journal’s2023 40 Under 40 Award winners. The awards recognize the region’s top business and civic leaders under 40 who have demonstrated commitment to their career and community.
From 280 nominations, winners were selected based on several criteria including their business success (financial results, career growth), community involvement (volunteer work, advocacy), leadership ability (public profile, reputation), and overall influence (impact on the region, on public policy, or on quality of life).
At Troutman Pepper, Boddie focuses on complex real estate transactions, joint ventures, and public finance lending. His practice covers a wide range of matters, including the acquisition and disposition of real estate, equity investments, refinancings, and loans for the construction and development of all property types. Additionally, he notably focuses on transactions within the affordable housing sector, regularly negotiating on behalf of and providing advocacy for clients in this space.
In addition to helping his clients maximize profits through acquisitions, developments, and dispositions, Boddie’s work as a real estate attorney has had a profound impact on the Charlotte community. Through his work in helping developers purchase naturally occurring affordable housing with the intent of maintaining the affordability of the asset and partnering with Charlotte-based organizations on a pro bono basis, Boddie has helped uplift the lives of families and individuals who may have otherwise struggled to secure safe and stable housing.
A very active member of his community, Boddie has done meaningful board service with the Red Cross and currently serves on the Board for Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region and is a Co-Chair of the Region’s Family Services Committee, where he is helping to advance equity in housing.
Hubler is known for his practical, business-first approach to dealmaking and problem solving. His legal practice encompasses transactions that involve mergers and acquisitions, joint venture and investment transactions, and other strategic alliances, as well as fund formations. He regularly represents private equity funds, venture capital funds and public and private companies across a broad range of industries, including industrials, energy, real estate, infrastructure, technology and health care.
Hubler’s pro bono efforts have historically focused on obtaining expunction orders for individuals who have been convicted or charged with crimes in North Carolina. This year, Hubler will also begin to serve as Troutman Pepper’s liaison and team-lead for the Charlotte Legal Initiative to Mobilize Business (CLIMB). Formed in the wake of the George Floyd protests, CLIMB is a nonprofit organized by a group of local law firms to provide access to free, sophisticated business law services to low-income entrepreneurs and small businesses.
In the community, Hubler serves as a board member of the Charlotte Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) and has served as a moderator of multiple seminars for ACG’s annual “Deal Crawl” conference. In these roles, he has sought to highlight that Charlotte is a city that punches above its weight in business, consistently attracting leaders from all over the country to visit for opportunities to connect, learn and grow.
Boddie and Hubler will be honored at a May 17 awards celebration and profiled in a special section of the Charlotte Business Journal.
