David Stauss, a partner with Troutman Pepper Locke’s Privacy + Cyber Practice Group, was quoted in the October 1, 2025 Bloomberg Law article, “Companies Turn to State-Specific Responses to Kids’ Privacy Laws.”

“The kids’ privacy space is extremely difficult to navigate right now,” said David Stauss, partner at Troutman Pepper Locke, where he advises companies on compliance with state privacy laws.” Whereas we were able to figure out commonality on the consumer data privacy front, the kids’ privacy space has just kind of teetered out of control. And that’s really happened in the past two years.”

“There’s definitely a heck of a lot more focus on kids’ data and segregating that,” Stauss said. “There’s also a heck of a lot more realization that kids’ data is a lot riskier data than any other data sources that you have.”
