Zachary Torres Fowler, a partner in Troutman Pepper Locke’s Construction Practice Group, was quoted in the March 16, 2026 Law360 article, “Excitement, Tinged With Skepticism, Over AAA’s AI Arbitrator.”

  • “I think it’s principally the unknown,” said Troutman Pepper Locke partner R. Zachary Torres-Fowler, when asked to explain the cautious approach. “So what is this really going to do? And do we want a computer to exercise a level of judgment that trained lawyers, trained arbitrators do on a daily basis? Will it ever really be sufficient to exercise the sort of subjective judgment that attorneys have to do on a daily basis? That’s the real question.”
  • “I think from at least what I’ve seen thus far in my practice, it’s very good at doing sort of rote administrative tasks,” he continued, referring to AI in general. “It is very bad at making substantive judgment calls. And that’s where I think the distinction is for a lot of people.”
