Ga. Appellate Court Weighs Which Utility Companies May Service Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Matt Bailey, a partner in Troutman Pepper's Business Litigation Practice Group, was quoted in the October 20, 2023 Daily Report article, " Ga. Appellate Court Weighs Which Utility Companies May Service Electric Vehicle Charging Stations."
"Electric vehicles can get AC power anywhere they want," added Matt Bailey of Troutman Pepper, arguing for Georgia Power Company. "They have very small onboard rectifiers, and so they can plug into any outlet, take AC power and very, very slowly charge. What they're getting at the Electrify America premises is very, very quick charging by virtue of the very large power cabinets. They're not just paying for electricity, they're paying for time both in the sense of the time the cars charge and also for the time they save by not having to plug in somewhere else to charge very slowly on retail electric service."
