Nothing is more accurate when it comes to a cybersecurity attack than the saying, “When it rains, it pours.”

Join us for the Georgia Cybersecurity CLE Summit and Dinner: When Cyber Attacks Strike – Preventing and Managing the Downpour, a comprehensive half-day in-person CLE event designed to equip organizations with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance their incident response capabilities and manage the legal and regulatory challenges that follow. This event will be followed by a reception and dinner, providing ample opportunities for networking and discussion.

Our agenda is crafted for organizations aiming to bolster their defenses by learning from recent breach litigation, regulatory investigations, and changes in the law, such as the latest SEC cybersecurity rules. Participants will also learn how to prepare for and conduct technical and executive cyber tabletop exercises, which help identify potential areas of weakness, enhance coordination among different teams and departments, and improve the decision-making process during an actual cyber incident.

We encourage both legal and cybersecurity professionals to participate in this summit together, as both teams will need to collaborate closely on the issues discussed when (not if) an attack actually occurs.

AGENDA HIGHLIGHTS:

12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Lunch

12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.: Panels Begin

  • SEC Disclosures and Incident Response: This session will explore how companies can enhance their materiality assessment processes by aligning incident response procedures with disclosure controls. This alignment can boost compliance with the new SEC disclosure rules and offer protection during SEC enforcement actions. We’ll discuss tailored strategies for assessing materiality, avoiding common pitfalls, and improving the narrative around cybersecurity incident response and disclosure.

  • Lessons Learned from MDL Breach Litigation: When your incident attracts significant attention, leading to dozens of class action lawsuits that are consolidated into a Multi-District Litigation (MDL), defending it presents unique challenges. Learn from our experience in managing such an MDL, including litigation handling, coordination with regulatory investigations, and public relations. As a bonus, Blackbaud’s General Counsel and its Government Affairs Lead will share their recent experiences and lessons in working with Troutman on its MDL.

  • Reviewing Your Incident Response Capabilities Before Regulators: A discussion emphasizing the primary areas of focus for regulators following a data security incident, such as communications, notifications, and disclosures, along with a structured approach to organizing technical and executive-level tabletop exercises. Topics will include identifying participants for the tabletop exercise, preparation strategies, and expectations before, during, and after the exercise.
