Hartford Associate Alexander Cox was quoted by the Connecticut Law Tribune on the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), a comprehensive consumer privacy law that goes into effect July 1. Cox notes that although enforcement falls solely to Connecticut’s Attorney General, there could be conflict over the right to cure.

“The attorney general has to offer businesses that they think violated the Connecticut law an opportunity to cure the violation,” he adds. “There might be disputes between the Attorney General’s Office and the business about whether they were able to cure the violation. That’s probably the first thing that’s going to be disputed, but initially, it’s really a compliance challenge.”
