Justice Harold Melton, a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Business Litigation Practice Group, was quoted in the December 23, 2024 Law360 Pulse article, “Meet New Members Of Georgia’s Judicial Nominating Board.”

Melton, who resigned from the Supreme Court in 2021, told Law360 Pulse that he planned to look for candidates who would treat both parties well so that when the conflict was over, “whether they win or lose,” they will thank the judge.

“There are several critical things we look for,” Melton said. “One is the interest in the job itself, not interest in being a judge, but interest in doing the work of digging into the facts and the law time and time again with the quest of getting it right for the parties, realizing that for the parties there before the judge, it is the most important thing going on in their lives potentially.”
