Stefanie Jackman, a partner in Troutman Pepper Locke’s Consumer Financial Services Practice Group, was quoted in the April 23, 2025 The National Law Journal article, “‘Thrown Together’: CFPB Enforcement Gets Slashed in Internal Memo.”

Attorney Stefanie Jackman said the administration has been clear about its intentions to shrink government and deregulate across federal agencies. The memo reflects the agency’s short-term goals before McKernan is confirmed, she added.

“They’re going to have a CFPB that does act on those priorities, however they’re redefined,” said Jackman, a partner at Troutman Pepper Locke. “They’ll need more people in order to do that. I think they’re just saying, ‘Let’s get back to the ground level.'”
