HOUSTON – Troutman Pepper Locke has strengthened its Energy Transactional Practice Group with the arrival of Mac Marshall, a partner whose two-decade track record includes structuring and negotiating energy transactions collectively valued at more than $17 billion across upstream, midstream, and international operations.

Marshall, who joins the firm’s Houston office from Norton Rose Fulbright, has advised on some of the energy sector’s most consequential joint ventures and financings. His addition deepens the firm’s bench in one of the world’s most active energy markets and reinforces its position as a go-to platform for complex energy transactions.

“Mac has built a strong reputation in commercial midstream contracts, and his command of upstream acquisitions and divestitures is exactly the kind of depth we have been looking to add to our practice,” said Christine Byrnes, leader of Troutman Pepper Locke’s Energy Transactional Practice Group. “His arrival, alongside the recent addition of Allison Perlman, reflects deliberate momentum we are building across the full range of complex energy transactions, and that growth translates directly into stronger, more comprehensive capabilities for our clients.”

Marshall’s transactional work spans acquisitions and divestitures of producing and non-producing oil and gas properties, and the purchase, sale, construction, and financing of pipelines, gathering systems, and storage facilities. He routinely handles the full suite of commercial agreements, including NAESB contracts, gathering, processing, and treating agreements, production handling agreements, master service agreements, hedging arrangements, and seismic data licenses.

Marshall is Board Certified in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and frequently advises lenders and borrowers across the full spectrum of energy financing transactions, including conventional and mezzanine financings, reserve-based lending, and revolving and term credit facilities.

“Houston is a key global market in the energy industry, and welcoming an attorney of Mac’s caliber strengthens our ability to serve clients at the heart of the market. His addition gives our clients a real edge when navigating the most complex upstream and midstream matters, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the firm,” said Laura Edrington, Houston office managing partner.

“Troutman Pepper Locke has built a truly full-service energy practice, and that depth matters to clients navigating complex transactions,” said Marshall. “I was drawn to the firm’s ability to handle every dimension of a deal, from upstream and midstream acquisitions to project finance. I look forward to putting that platform to work for clients in Houston and across the country.”
