Troutman Pepper Finalists
DC Diversity Initiative of the Year – Troutman Pepper
Troutman Pepper was selected as a finalist for the DC Diversity Initiative of the Year for its comprehensive DEI initiatives, which are embedded in every aspect of firm operations and guided by a DEI Roadmap that focuses on nine key areas of impact. The firm has created a matrix of DEI leadership to support these initiatives and has implemented storytelling as a powerful tool to foster human connection and inclusivity. Troutman Pepper’s fireside chat series, featuring esteemed guests and sponsored by various affinity groups, has significantly reduced belonging uncertainty, and promoted a culture of belonging, both internally and with external stakeholders. The positive feedback and high engagement from these events highlight their success and the firm’s commitment to sustainable cultural change.
Attorney of the Year – Timothy McHugh
The coveted Attorney of the Year award recognizes attorneys who have made their mark on the profession, and in the law, with an achievement in the past year that goes beyond service to the client. Troutman Pepper Partner Tim McHugh is one of only three finalists for the top award thanks to his lead role in a landmark Supreme Court win earlier this year. McHugh, a former Army paratrooper and recipient of the Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal for Valor, spent the better part of the past decade fighting pro bono for his fellow veterans together with co-counsel at Dominion Energy in Rudisill v. McDonough. The win in April restored billions in educational benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill for 1.7 million veterans and counting, allowing the nation’s longest serving veterans to receive significantly more, life-changing educational benefits for their service.
