This presentation provides an overview of post-issuance proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”). The presentation aims to educate experienced and newly admitted patent attorneys regarding the use of post-issuance USPTO proceedings from the perspective of patent holder and patent challenger. In-depth overviews of inter partes review, post-grant review, ex parte reexamination, preissuance submissions, reissue applications, and supplemental examination are provided.
This session is approved for general MCLE credit for California, Illinois, New York (newly admitted and experienced), Texas, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut and New Jersey (through reciprocity) through the firm’s accreditation status. Credit may be available for other states upon request, subject to state restrictions. Attendees can expect to receive their CLE certificate(s) within 30 business days of the program date.
