Alison prosecutes patent applications in the high-tech arena and handles various aspects of IP due diligence and licensing. She routinely handles many aspects of patent litigation, from discovery disputes to claim construction briefing and hearings to trial.

Alison has participated in more than five trials before the International Trade Commission, representing plaintiffs in patent-based Section 337 investigations. She has also participated in various hearings and mediations in a variety of district courts. She prosecutes patent applications in the high-tech arena and handles various aspects of portfolio growth and management, IP due diligence and licensing. She has drafted and negotiated numerous patent licenses and purchase agreements, often in the context of settlement of patent litigation. She also handles a variety of post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including inter partes reviews and reexaminations.

Alison manages patent portfolios for clients located in both the U.S. and abroad, and has worked with patents in a broad range of technologies, including semiconductor devices, wireless communication, subsea equipment, digital imaging technology, fiber optic cable connectors and related equipment, as well as medical devices.

With respect to IP diligence, she has conducted in-depth reviews of patent portfolios for companies wishing to maximize the value of their portfolios, whether by asserting existing patent rights, or for the purpose of selling patents and portfolios to other parties. As an example, she worked to complete a complex patent sale and license agreement that involved a portfolio of more than 200 patents. She also has assisted in providing due diligence for venture capital funds and other investors interested in understanding patent value and potential intellectual property opportunities from the sale or purchase of intellectual property assets.

Alison recently served as adjunct professor for a trademarks and unfair competition course at New England School of Law.
