Carson is an associate in the firm’s Business Litigation Practice Group. He focuses on the intersection of enforcement actions, investigations, and litigation, assisting in representing clients on dozens of cases across a wide variety of civil litigation and appellate matters. He is a member of the state attorneys general (AG) litigation team, defending companies in a variety of industries, often involving claims under state Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Practices (UDAP) statutes. Carson is also an active member of the firm’s Appellate + Supreme Court practice focusing on challenges to state election laws and redistricting plans in state and federal appellate courts throughout the U.S.

Prior to joining the firm, Carson served as a summer associate, and as a judicial extern for The Hon. Thomas T. Cullen, U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Virginia.

  • Secured dismissal of a party on appeal in a high-profile business fraud matter brought by the New York Attorney General.
  • Represented clients’ interests as amici curiae in the U.S. Supreme Court arguing in favor of State Respondents’ Article III standing to challenge the federal student-loan-relief plan.
  • Represented client’s interests as amicus curiae before the U.S. Supreme Court arguing in favor of overruling the Chevron deference doctrine.
  • Successfully represented a veteran in an effort to restore Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits denied by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs before the U.S. Supreme Court.
  • Representing a media company in multiple high-profile defamation cases brought in Delaware state trial court.
  • Representing a religious institution challenging municipal zoning regulations under federal statutory and constitutional law in federal district court.
  • Representing a state legislature in challenges to the state’s absentee-voting laws.
  • Representing multiple municipalities facing state and federal constitutional challenges to their redistricting plans.
  • Represented a home security business in a contract dispute in Virginia state trial court.
  • Assisted companies engaged in Virginia state trial court and appellate court litigation against an out-of-state receiver seeking post-judgment discovery. Helped secure complete reversal of trial court ruling for clients on appeal, wholly disposing of the case.
