Edgar is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US). He assists clients on compliance and litigation issues, including issues regarding privacy and cybersecurity laws. He is fluent in Spanish, allowing him to effectively communicate with and serve Spanish speaking clients.
Edgar develops innovative strategies for clients navigating new and emerging technologies. He is adept at helping businesses harness the power of data while mitigating potential risks. Organizations depend on Edgar's ability to respond and adapt to security incidents, and in assisting them in implementing their incident response plans during an emergency. He helps clients be well-prepared to address and mitigate the aftermath of a security incident by preparing incident response plans.
Edgar regularly assists clients with their assessment of, and compliance with, federal and state privacy and security laws, including CAN-SPAM, COPPA, HIPAA, and CCPA. He provides guidance on crafting effective privacy policies, terms of use, information security policies, and data governance agreements. Edgar also regularly supports his clients in data privacy and security due diligence, offering crucial support in M&A transactions.
His experience in safeguarding personal information often leads him into the intellectual property realm when clients need to protect creative and innovative assets. Edgar regularly assists clients in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property, including matters involving copyright, trademark, and trade secrets.
Edgar earned his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he served as the co-editor-in-chief of the Hastings Science and Technology Law Journal and participated in the Startup Legal Garage. During law school, Edgar honed his skills as a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney's Office and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Daniel A. Flores in the San Francisco Superior Court.
