Gene leverages in-depth knowledge of health sciences technologies, decades of working with R&D teams, and a deep understanding of his clients' business goals to help them create value from their intellectual property.
Gene works closely with his clients on all aspects of their patent portfolios. He provides strategic guidance on global IP portfolios, leads due diligence for major acquisitions and divestitures, and manages IP litigation matters. Clients rely on Gene for competitive analyses, advising internal stakeholders, patent preparation and prosecution, and patentability and noninfringement opinions.
Gene provided comprehensive strategic IP counseling and managed global IP litigation matters within various departments at a Fortune 50 pharmaceutical and health care company for more than 20 years. During his tenure there, he supported numerous medical device business units, including those responsible for devices for treating stroke and related conditions, syndesmosis, bunions and hammertoe, breast implants, hydrocephalus, chronic pain, and movement disorders.
Before attending law school, Gene was an engineer with a major defense contractor, where he designed and developed a main sea water condenser for use in nuclear submarines. He has also served as an adjunct professor, teaching the summer term Law and Legal Reasoning class at Rutgers Business School, and was a guest lecturer on patent law at Louisiana State University Law School.
