Overview

Jason advises companies and organizations facing regulatory investigations and enforcement matters. He has served in senior staff roles for prominent U.S. senators, including members of the Appropriations Committee and Senate leadership, where he negotiated directly with congressional and White House leadership and oversaw legal, policy, and oversight strategy across a broad portfolio — consumer protection, financial services, privacy, technology, biotech, housing, intellectual property, homeland security, government ethics, and judicial confirmations.

During his time in government, Jason drove negotiations to resolve labor disputes between unions and multinational industrial companies. He prepared senators for the vetting and confirmation processes of three associate justices of the Supreme Court and led the selection process for multiple U.S. attorneys and nearly a dozen federal judicial seats. Jason has worked extensively with Alaska Native Tribes and organizations, including helping to develop a first-of-its-kind program to empower tribes to access federal infrastructure funding. Through the annual government funding process, he helped to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in congressionally directed spending to communities, organizations, and other stakeholders. Jason’s commercial litigation background includes complex oil and gas disputes involving state damages claims in excess of $3 billion. He understands how regulators and enforcement agencies think about cases, how investigations gain momentum, and where there is room to shape outcomes before matters escalate.

As part of Troutman Strategies, Jason provides clients with counsel that bridges legal exposure and political reality. He advises companies and trade associations on federal and state government relations, legislative strategy, and regulatory advocacy. Jason has worked across an unusually wide range of policy areas, mastering the details to deliver meaningful wins for stakeholders, and has negotiated directly with congressional and executive branch leadership on some of the most contentious matters of the past decade.
