Jason C. Spang

Jason represents clients in each phase of the construction process, including contract negotiation and formation, project counselling and dispute avoidance, and formal dispute resolution. His practice involves public and private construction and both domestic and international projects. He represents clients across the construction industry including project owners, developers, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Before receiving his law degree, Jason held various roles in the construction industry, working for a general contractor, a construction manager and for a consulting firm. He holds a professional engineering license in the State of New Jersey and is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED^® Accredited Professional.

• Represented an EPC contractor in arbitration involving more than $250 million in claims related to the design and construction of a light rail project in Canada.
• Provided on-site project support and ICC arbitration support in London, UK to an EPC contractor involving more than $800 million in claims related to the design and construction of a major light rail project in the Middle East.
• Represented an EPC contractor in arbitration with a Japanese equipment supplier related to the construction of power plant in Wisconsin.
• Counseled a design-build contractor client on delay, disruption and differing site conditions claims related to a military project in Micronesia.
• Represented a major equipment supplier in litigation with a general contractor on a dam project in California involving more than $20 million in alleged delay damages.
• Represented a project owner in arbitration with a prime contractor in a dispute involving a target-price cost reimbursable construction contract on a process plant project.
• Represented an EPC contractor in arbitration and litigation involving claims of delay and additional costs associated with the construction of a process plant in Wyoming.
• Defended a general contractor in litigation with a subcontractor on a public works project involving a differing site conditions claim.
• Represented a manufacturer in litigation with building owners throughout the U.S. related to exterior building materials.
• Represented a building materials supplier in litigation with competitor involving claims associated with a requirements contract involving aggregate and asphalt.
• Represented an owner in litigation with a general contractor involving claims of delay, differing site conditions and compliance with Davis-Bacon wage requirements.
• Represented an owner in a dispute with an EPC contractor involving the construction of a cement plant in Mexico.
• Represented owner in arbitration with supplier involving the quality of fuel supplied to two power plants located in Jamaica.
• Negotiated design professional contracts, construction contracts and provided project counseling to educational clients on various project including residential buildings, laboratories, dining centers, classroom facilities, and athletic facilities.
• Negotiated construction contracts and provided project counseling to developer clients on mixed-use and residential construction projects.
• Negotiated EPC and EPCM agreements on behalf of industrial clients for process and manufacturing facilities.
• Negotiated design-build and construction contracts on behalf of life science clients for research facilities and GMP manufacturing facilities.
