Overview

Jeffrey is a registered patent agent in the firm’s Health Care + Life Sciences Intellectual Property group. His primary focus includes strategic drafting and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications in line with the business needs and requirements unique to each client. Jeffrey’s practice also includes conducting freedom-to-operate searches, patentability analysis, and competitive landscape assessments.

Jeffrey has more than five years of experience in intellectual property. Prior to joining the firm, Jeffrey was a patent agent at an international law firm, where he assisted startups and growing businesses with IP-related matters and with patent prosecution strategy. Jeffrey was also a technical specialist at an IP boutique law firm, where he assisted many small clients and solo inventors with patent prosecution-related matters and provided education on covering the process of applying for a patent. He has worked with a variety of clients covering different subject matters, including biomedical devices, semiconductor systems, optical systems, warehouse automation, microfluidic systems, and machine learning technologies.

Jeffrey’s experience includes preparing patent applications covering medical devices, preparing patent applications covering electromechanical systems and their methods of manufacture, prosecuting patent applications in line with business needs and strategy, analyzing patent landscapes for emerging technologies, developing patent prosecution strategies to meet business goals, and building patent portfolios for emerging businesses.

Jeffrey received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in physics from San Diego State University. During his graduate education he participated in a team which developed an on-brain electrode transducer in collaboration with the University of Washington.
