Katalina represents financial institutions across California in state and federal courts, trial and appellate courts, and in bankruptcy. She focuses on defending lenders and servicers in litigation defense concerning all areas of consumer law.

Katalina is counsel in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services practice. She represents a wide range of companies in the financial services industry in state and federal litigation, including litigation involving homeowners’ association lien priority, title litigation, and wrongful foreclosure defense. She regularly defends financial institutions against individual claims brought pursuant to RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, and TCPA.

Additionally, Katalina defends mortgage lenders, servicers, and other financial services providers against borrower complaints alleging violations of state statutes, California Homeowner Bill of Rights, wrongful foreclosures, California Military and Veterans’ Code, and debt collection statutes.

  • Represented a national financial institution in a breach of contract matter involving the obligation to repurchase a batch of nonconforming residential mortgage loans pursuant to the language in the parties’ sale and purchase agreement.
  • Defended national banks to recover losses caused by origination fraud.
  • Defended a national mortgage servicer in a lawsuit for alleged violation of California’s Military and Veterans’ Code.
  • Represented a national mortgage servicer and investor in a wrongful foreclosure action related to violations of California Homeowner Bill of Rights and violations of FDCPA and FCRA.
