Kelly is an associate in the firm’s Business Litigation practice, focusing on commercial contract disputes. She has a variety of experience enforcing clients’ contractual rights in state and federal courts, as well as private arbitration. Kelly has been involved in all phases of commercial dispute resolution, including pre-lawsuit settlement negotiations, discovery, motion practice, and trial.

In addition to her general commercial practice, Kelly is an experienced construction attorney, and has represented general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, and project owners on a variety of issues, including contract and negligence claims, lien foreclosure and bond claims, and claims for violations of Michigan’s Building Contract Fund Act.

While in law school, Kelly was a member of the Michigan State University International Law Review and served as an articles editor. She earned her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude.

  • Successfully defended a seven-figure claim for a breach of noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreement on behalf of a manufacturer following a seven-day bench trial, securing dismissal of all claims and award for attorney fees.
  • Prevailed on six-figure construction bond claim on behalf of a supplier client following motion for summary disposition.
  • Obtained dismissal of indemnification and fraud claims on behalf of an HVAC supplier following motion for summary disposition prior to initiation of discovery.
  • Secured ex parte emergency temporary restraining order on behalf of employer following employee’s breach of employment agreement, and negotiated settlement of related claims.
  • Obtained judgment on behalf of supplier client pursuant to breach of contract and bond claim, and prevailed on subsequent appeal.
