Mark concentrates his practice in intellectual property law, including patent prosecution, strategic counseling, due diligence, and transactional support. He is a registered patent attorney and holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience.
Mark’s clients are involved in a range of fields, including biotechnology, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, medical devices, and life science services. Mark has prepared, prosecuted, and advised in applications relating to protein and peptide therapeutics, therapeutic antibodies, stem cells and related therapeutic technologies, targeting moieties, drug delivery technologies, gene editing technologies, and cell-based therapies. His clients range in size from startup and mid-sized life science companies, to academic institutions, venture capital groups, and large pharmaceutical companies.
As a Ph.D. candidate at Brown University, Mark acquired extensive experience in molecular biology, electrophysiology, animal behavior, channel dynamics, and systems-based neurobiology while studying developmental models of seizures and epilepsy. After graduating, Mark joined the life science venture capital and startup community, where he gained experience in pharmaceutical development, post-translation modifications, and proteomics. Mark’s scientific experience also includes microbiology and genetics work performed at the University of Massachusetts prior to his doctorate.
