Matthew J. Aaronson

Matthew defends the largest national health insurers in managed care payor disputes, handling a portfolio of litigation across a large swath of the Northeastern U.S. and other matters throughout the U.S. He handles all types of claims brought by providers, including breach of contract, bad faith, improper billing, and out-of-network issues. In addition to commercial insurance, he handles matters involving Medicare, Medicaid, and ERISA government plans.

Matthew thoroughly understands the unique business and legal dynamics involved with payor disputes, resolving cases while helping his clients maintain beneficial relationships with providers and other participants in the health care delivery system. With a background that includes litigating government contracting disputes — including bid protests — he has been involved on all sides of the business of health insurance. As a result, his clients often rely on him for general counseling and advice on a range of day-to-day corporate legal issues as they arise.

Matthew’s background includes serving as lead trial attorney in trials, appeals, arbitrations, and mediations for clients in state and federal courts involving a diverse range of business and contractual disputes. He has dedicated a portion of his practice to handling real estate disputes in New York City since he began practicing law, and has significant experience in other sectors such as aviation, financial services, professional services, and retail.
