Michael uses his experience in both state and federal government to counsel major utilities in a variety of complex regulatory issues.
Michael is an associate in the firm's Energy practice, focusing on state regulatory litigation matters, including ratemaking proceedings, integrated resource planning, trade secret issues, prudency review, and nuclear plant cost recovery.
Prior to joining the firm, Michael served at the Supreme Court of Georgia as the inaugural law clerk for Justice Shawn Ellen LaGrua, which provided him with an invaluable understanding of Georgia's highest judicial body and the state's appellate courts. This experience also allows him to analyze complex legal positions, draft effective and persuasive briefs and pleadings, and advocate on behalf of clients at the highest levels of state government.
A magna cum laude graduate of the Georgia State University College of Law, Michael served as a symposium editor for the Georgia State University Law Review, participated in Moot Court at the national level, and was elected president of the Asian American Law Students Association. Michael also served in Georgia State's Health Law Partnership (HeLP) Legal Services Clinic, where he represented low-income families and received the HeLP Clinic Award for his legal advocacy, writing, and professionalism. Additionally, he interned at the Department of Health and Human Services and was a summer associate at the firm.
Prior to law school, Michael worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2016-2017, developing agency-wide communication strategies during major international health outbreaks.
