Michael H. Reed is a fellow of The Pepper Center for Public Service. The Pepper Center draws on the talents of the firm’s retired partners and senior attorneys to wrestle with tough problems facing our communities. Through the Center, these attorneys study, analyze, and work to resolve problems that affect the lives of people in our communities.

Michael’s civic and community activities include board memberships ranging from university associations to hospitals and law centers. He has received several awards for his service, and continues to offer support to various associations and organizations.

For almost 50 years, Michael practiced law in the areas of corporate restructuring and bankruptcy, as well as general business, corporate governance, not-for-profit, health care, and legal ethics and professional responsibility. Long active in national, state, and local bar associations, he served as president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association from 2004 to 2005. He also served as chair of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Constitution and Bylaws.

  • Received a citation from the Mayor and the City of Philadelphia for Outstanding Service to the Citizens of Philadelphia (April 2005)
  • Received a Certificate of Honor as the 1995 Alumnus of the Year from the College of Arts & Sciences of Temple University (May 1995)
  • Received the Award of Excellence from the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, Inc. (March 2003)
