Nick draws on years of military leadership, project management, and legal experience to help clients solve difficult business problems from a legal perspective. His practical advice enables clients to navigate regulatory compliance and licensing issues, complex investigations, and high stakes enforcement actions that arise under state and federal law.
Nick is an associate in the firm's Regulatory Investigations, Strategy + Enforcement (RISE) Practice Group. Clients rely on Nick to help them obtain federal, state, and/or local regulatory licenses for complex and innovative business models, and to guide them through the maze of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements impacting their daily business operations. In addition, Nick assists clients with building and managing regulatory compliance programs on a national level. Clients also look to Nick to help them effectively respond to government inquiries, investigations, enforcement actions, audits, or to conduct highly confidential internal investigations. Nick has specific experience representing clients in the following industries: beer, wine, and spirits; tobacco and nicotine; cannabis; energy; automotive; financial services; and payments and financial technology.
Nick provides ongoing analysis and commentary on various developments in these industries by regularly contributing to the Regulatory Oversight and Tobacco Law blogs.
Before joining the firm, Nick was an associate in the administrative law group of an international law firm. During law school, he externed for the Honorable Michael F. Urbanski of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Prior to law school, Nick served in the U.S. Army in a variety of leadership positions within conventional and special operations forces. His various assignments included combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
