Dr. Zhou advises a variety of clients, including multinational corporations, international research institutes, startups, and independent inventors on the prosecution of utility and design patents as well as strategic patent portfolio development and management. He also provides clients with the counsel they need on a variety of matters, including non-infringement and/or invalidity analysis, design around, freedom-to-operate, and patentability.

Dr. Zhou prosecutes patents in a broad array of technological fields, including biomedical engineering, medical physics and medical devices, life science, physics, nanotechnology, material science, telecommunications, fiber optics, photonics and electronics, quantum communications and computations, optical, mechanical and electronic devices, semiconductors, computer software, mass spectrometry, blockchain, and artificial intelligence.

Before his career as a patent agent, Dr. Zhou served in engineering and research roles throughout the U.S., U.K., and the EU, where he focused on areas of technology such as laser physics, photonics and quantum electronics, fiber optics, optical networking, quantum computer, quantum communications, modeling of complex systems, computer-aided measurements and automations, data acquisition and signal conditioning, and micro-electrical-mechanical systems (MEMS).

Dr. Zhou has published more than 80 research articles in Physical Review Letters, Physical Review A, and other leading academic research journals. Additionally, Dr. Zhou had acted as referee for several leading academic research journals in physics and optics.
