René M.L. Hansemann

René serves as outside general counsel to technology based and manufacturing companies that have a global presence and are Tier 1 suppliers. Her clients rely on her experience with commercial transactions, technology licensing and consulting agreements, and data privacy compliance. Her domestic and global work in industries such as automotive and manufacturing is also enhanced by her previous work as a commercial litigator and by her experience with GDPR and CCPA.

René focuses her practice on domestic and international corporate transactions and real estate matters. She represents buyers and sellers in acquisitions, landlords and tenants in a variety of commercial leaseholds, and borrowers and lenders in financing transactions. Her international work includes transactions in England, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Scotland, Japan, Malaysia, China, Thailand, India, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, and Russia.

• Serves as general counsel to an intellectual property-based, international company that supplies services and products to the automotive industry, and to several development-stage companies.
• Represents an international company with subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, the U.S., and Mexico as general counsel, providing day-to-day legal advice in the corporate, real estate, intellectual property, labor, ERISA, and tax areas.
• Represents a leading flat glass manufacturer as outside counsel to the general counsel, providing day-to-day legal advice in the corporate, real estate, labor, litigation, ERISA, antitrust, tax, and environmental areas.
• Represented a newly formed affiliate in the $101 million acquisition of a 49 percent interest in a limited liability company with more than 30 operations in Texas and Oklahoma.
• Represented a manufacturer and distributor of heating and cooling devices in its $33 million sale of its southern Michigan and northern Ohio distribution division.
• Represented a NYSE-listed corporation in its $44 million asset acquisition of an international division that supplies engineering services to the transportation industry.
