Ryan is a trial attorney with a focus on complex technology disputes. He represents companies in patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret litigation. Ryan’s practice takes him around the globe, and he has deposed witnesses in more than five countries.

Ryan helps clients protect investments in product lines through offensive and defensive legal strategies. He has defeated competitors’ patents before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. district court. Ryan also defends against validity challenges and secures infringement verdicts of clients’ intellectual property in U.S. district court. Ryan upholds permanent injunctions prohibiting the sale of competitors’ products at the federal circuit.

Ryan has experience in a range of technologies and products, including oil field equipment (onshore drill bits and mud systems, offshore drill ships and BOPs, perforating guns, fracking manifolds, pipe fittings, and insulators); semiconductors, medical devices, and laboratory supplies (arthroscopic knee implants, automatic resuscitation devices, heart valves, laboratory assays, catheters, and stents); cell phones and wireless telecommunications (touch screens, video compression and transmission, and LTE wireless communications); and motor vehicles (ATVs, side by sides, golf carts, transmissions, and superchargers).
