Bill represents technology and other industry clients in patent litigation, licensing, and counseling on intellectual property matters. Bill has successfully litigated patent, trademark, and other intellectual property cases in federal courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). In addition to working in private practice, Bill previously served with the ITC as an attorney advisor to Judge Paul J. Luckern, an experience that helps Bill to provide clients with an inside perspective on the federal agency.

Bill litigates cases involving a wide range of technologies, including digital cameras, cellular phones, embedded microprocessors, e-commerce, web server, subsea equipment, telecommunications and networking, computer software, automotive components, laser and inkjet printers, memory devices, and fiber optics.

Clients also turn to Bill to negotiate patent licenses and other agreements involving intellectual property.

Bill also serves as a member of the firm’s Policy Committee.

  • Advised an embedded processor technology company in enforcing power management and memory access patents in cases before the U.S. International Trade Commission and in federal district court.
  • Counseled an e-commerce software and service provider in defending multiple cases involving web server and other e-commerce technology in multiple cases in federal district court.
  • Represented a health care equipment manufacturer in enforcing patents on nitrile surgical gloves before the U.S. International Trade Commission and in federal district court.
  • Advised an oilfield equipment manufacturer in enforcing and defending multiple patent cases involving subsea oil well technology in federal district court as well as in the UK and the European Patent Office (EPO).
