Overview

Bill Briggs focused his practice on complex litigation, insurance, and nuclear regulation.

Bill represented and advised insurance carriers in complex coverage disputes, environmental and mass tort matters, insurance fraud litigation, and first and third-party bad faith lawsuits. He also represented parties in commercial lawsuits and lawsuits involving the United States government. He taught an advanced seminar in Civil Trial Practice at Georgetown Law School.

In addition, Bill represented companies in the nuclear industry and employees and officers of those companies who were facing possible enforcement action by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or who sought advice regarding NRC matters. As part of his nuclear practice Bill was retained by nuclear utilities to conduct independent investigations into allegations raised by or presented to the NRC.

Bill served as a mediator, an arbitrator, an early neutral evaluator, and a court-appointed special master in a wide variety of disputes involving both private and governmental parties. He was appointed as an insurance mediator for the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution, and he lectured on ADR and taught mediation to various clients and attorneys with the Department of Justice.
