Zayne combines a well-rounded background in corporate finance and experiences in government service, to provide comprehensive guidance to clients such as commercial banks, holding companies, and other financial institutions.
Zayne advises public and private companies on corporate governance matters, capital issues, and strategic planning. He works closely with financial institutions to negotiate, document, and close mergers and acquisitions, including bank mergers and acquisitions of nonbank institutions. Zayne’s practice also includes counseling state- and nationally-chartered community banks on various regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance issues. As technology has evolved, he has worked with bank and nonbank clients in the payments, mobile banking, and financial technology spaces.
Prior to joining the firm, Zayne served as a clerk to the former Commissioner Scott D. O'Malia at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He assisted the commissioner with various Dodd-Frank rulemakings, cross-jurisdictional matters with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and issues pertaining to high-frequency trading. Zayne also interned with the Chief Staff Attorney's Office of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
While working toward his graduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh, Zayne was a researcher at the Ford Institute for Human Security, specializing in the research of corporate social responsibility and codes of conduct for the Fortune Global 500.
