Our Use of Generative AI
Our work for clients is informed and enhanced by our firm’s hands-on experience developing and deploying AI tools for more than a decade. We have long been at the forefront of using new technologies, including GenAI, for data analytics, process improvements, and automation, including through our nationally recognized eMerge subsidiary. Our attorneys, legal technologists, data scientists, and engineers regularly develop, test, and pilot GenAI solutions, ensuring that every potential use case is thoroughly vetted for legal and business risks—as well as client value—before implementation. Under the guidance of our Generative AI Task Force, we built the necessary infrastructure to securely incubate the power of GenAI and large language models (LLMs) to benefit our clients and the firm.
In August 2023, our firm unveiled Athena, an enterprise chatbot application leveraging OpenAI’s GPT models to help attorneys and business professionals safely and effectively use GenAI to more efficiently deliver legal services and enhance client experiences. Our Innovation and eMerge teams continue to explore new ways to apply GenAI tools both internally and to solve our clients’ most pressing data challenges. In 2024, we were recognized by LegalOps.com for “Best Use of AI in a Law Firm,” and by global legal technology company Relativity for “Best Innovation: Enterprise” for eMerge’s GenAI application Flywheel, which enables faster information extraction and analysis from documents and metadata.
