Emily Schifter is an associate in the Labor and Employment practice at Troutman Sanders LLP. Her practice includes representing clients in a wide variety of labor and employment-related matters, including employment discrimination, leave, disability accommodation, and wage and hour litigation. Additionally, she counsels employers on many aspects of employment law and human resources issues, including restrictive covenants drafted under various states’ laws. Before joining Troutman Sanders, Emily served as a law clerk to the Honorable Walter E. Johnson in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia from 2015 to 2017. As a law clerk, she gained experience working on litigation involving a wide variety of matters and claims, including cases brought under Title VII, Section 1981, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Emily graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2015 where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif. While in law school, Emily served as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law. She was also a member of the Blue Key National Honor Society and a Dean’s Ambassador. She received her undergraduate degree in 2012 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she graduated with distinction.
