The transaction has now been consummated, following the successful issuance of all necessary regulatory approvals. In the U.S., the transaction was reviewed or approved by the Federal Communications Commission (the FCC), the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and the Committee on Foreign Participation in the U.S. Telecommunications Sector (Team Telecom).
The Hawaiki Submarine Cable is a cross-sectional fiber optic cable between the U.S. and Oceania (which links 15,000 km between landing stations in Australia, New Zealand, American Samoa, Hawaii, and the West Coast of the U.S.) and has become a critical infrastructure asset in the region.
