Anticipating Opportunities at Upcoming PACT Mid-Atlantic Capital Conference

This week, the Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT) is putting on its Mid-Atlantic Capital Conference. Troutman Pepper is a longtime supporter of this conference and we are very excited about this event. First, some of our best clients are emerging growth companies, so we are fully dedicated to this space. Many of our clients have presented at this conference over the years and received funding, and we hope that trend will continue this year. We have also been lucky to represent many venture capital and growth equity investors and have been able to contribute to their successes as well. This year we are especially excited as we are serving as the host sponsor to this terrific event that brings the startup business community together. The matchmaking of emerging and growth companies with investors, along with other crucial networking of the business community, generates opportunities for many.

While it is no secret that we have been in an economic downturn, there are some signs that deal activity is picking up (although sometimes with lower valuations, different terms, and longer diligence processes). And while some may look at the glass as half-empty, we have been in this space long enough to know that some of the best companies are forged, and some of the best investments are made, in this type of economic environment. Emerging companies, which stay smart and nimble, will find themselves with less competition and more access to top talent. And investors who stay smart, optimistic, and diligent, will find some terrific companies ready to emerge. Just like in the wake of the dot-com bust and then the Great Recession, we believe a fresh wave of innovative and high-performing companies will emerge in this next cycle.
