Jean Gonnell will be moderating a panel, which will include Bryan Haynes at the upcoming CannMed24 Conference discussing HHS’s recommendation to reclassify cannabis as a Schedule 3 controlled substance, as well as other pending legislation in Congress that will remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act. The panel will explore the legal roadmap for implementing such potential changes and how it could potentially affect researchers, clinicians, cultivators, testing labs, taxation, and consumers. Special attention will be paid to issues related to clinical research, banking, taxation, and interstate commerce and changes to anticipate when federal rescheduling or descheduling does in fact take place, in conjunction with the regulatory systems on a federal level, including the aspects of working with the FDA, TTB, and the USDA.
