Lisa Ruggiero, Managing Partner of Locke Lord’s New York and Newark offices, was profiled by Law.com in the ‘How I Made Managing Partner’ series. In the Q&A, Ruggiero discusses her experience at the Firm, the importance of a collaborative work environment and what helped propel her career to the leadership level. She credits her emphasis on a collaborative culture, respect for colleagues, teamwork and collegiality in the workplace as reasons she was elevated to a leadership position at Locke Lord.
Ruggiero also provided advice to those striving to be in a leadership position: “Participate in firm events and forge meaningful relationships with others in your office and throughout the firm—whether that is by working with them on a legal matter or by joining them at a business development event or by participating in a firm sponsored diversity or other type of initiative,” she said. “Volunteer to be on a committee or to lend a hand on a pro bono project with others at the firm. By collaborating this way, I believe that you will enrich yourself and your relationships at the firm and, in turn, you will become a meaningful member of the firm community, which is ultimately what provides you with the necessary tools to partake in firm leadership.”
