Public Law Center Names Troutman Pepper ‘Law Firm of the Year’ for Pro Bono Efforts

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. – Troutman Pepper has been recognized as the 2022 “Law Firm of the Year” by the Public Law Center (PLC) for its pro bono service with the Orange County nonprofit. The firm will receive the award at PLC’s annual Volunteers for Justice Event on Thursday, June 16.

In 2021, more than one dozen Troutman Pepper attorneys volunteered more than 1,000 hours with PLC. Attorneys handled a variety of matters in support of veterans, unaccompanied children in the U.S. immigration system, domestic violence survivors, and other low-income litigants in need of assistance.

“We believe strongly in the Public Law Center’s mission to provide access to justice for low-income and vulnerable residents in Orange County,” said Troutman Pepper Partner Samrah Mahmoud, who serves on PLC’s board. “The staff attorneys at PLC are wonderful partners and helped to guide us through the rewarding work. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to work with them.”

In addition to Mahmoud, Troutman Pepper’s Steven Allison, Leticia Cardoso, Sheila Chen, Dawn Hall, Kimberly Kaseem, Cindy Lee, Robyn Lin, Christy Markos, Stephanie Phan, Victoria Phan, Ryan Vanderbroeck, Edgar Vargas, Alicia Worthy, and Andrick Zeen all volunteered with PLC in 2021.

The Public Law Center is a pro-bono law firm that provides access to justice for low-income residents of Orange County. Last year, Public Law Center staff and volunteers provided over 65,000 hours of free legal services in handling over 4,500 cases benefiting low-income children, adults, and seniors.
