This panel will discuss the favorable tax treatment of qualified small business stock (QSBS) under Section 1202. The QSBS exclusion allows investors in certain businesses to exclude up to 100% of their gain on the sale of stock from gross income. This tax benefit has recently drawn the attention of Congress, which has proposed amendments to the QSBS provisions to increase tax revenues. Attendees should expect to learn the fundamental rules of the QSBS exclusion, as well as common practical problems. The panel will also discuss recent guidance and potential changes.
