Troutman Pepper Advises Georgia Banking Company in Merger Agreement with Peoples BankTrust

ATLANTA – Troutman Pepper client Georgia Banking Company, Inc. (GBC) and Peoples BankTrust, Inc. have signed a definitive agreement pursuant to which Peoples will merge with and into GBC in a cash and stock transaction with an aggregate value of approximately $58 million. GBC is a full-service, commercial community bank headquartered in Atlanta with offices in Buckhead and Griffin, Georgia and soon will be expanding to serve customers in Alpharetta, Duluth, Lawrenceville, and Marietta, Georgia.

This is Troutman Pepper’s third bank M&A deal in the past two weeks and the 10th U.S. bank deal announced this year. The firm has advised buyers and sellers on more bank M&A deals than any other firm in Georgia and Virginia over the last three years.
