AG of the Week

Kathy Jennings, Delaware

Kathy Jennings has served as Delaware’s 46th attorney general (AG) since January 1, 2019, and was reelected in 2022.

A Wilmington native, she is a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, the University of Delaware, and Villanova University Law School.

Jennings began her career at the Delaware Department of Justice, where she served as a prosecutor, state prosecutor, and chief deputy attorney general, and helped create the Consumer Fraud Division.

She later entered private practice with former AG Charles Oberly, representing individuals and companies in criminal, regulatory, and civil matters, before returning to the Department of Justice in 2011. In 2017, she was appointed chief administrative officer of New Castle County, concurrently serving as public safety director with oversight of the county police department, paramedics, and 911 communications.

Jennings has two adult children: a daughter in Wilmington and a son in Baltimore.
